PHYSICAL THERAPY EL SEGUNDO, CA - HEALTH BY RATIO
Online Physical Therapy & Functional Movement Program
Many individuals are aware that physical therapy can help them recover from an injury and heal, but many people are unaware that physical therapy, when taken a step further than simply treating an issue, may also aid in the achievement of long-term full-body health, prevention of future wear and tear, and even enhance physical performance.
In fact, high-quality physical therapy combined with functional movement and mobility exercises may be used to develop a holistically customized plan that will maintain you healthy and free of injuries. We've been there ourselves, so we understand how aggravating it is when you're in pain and nothing you try seems to help cure the real causes of your problems.
If you're suffering from an injury (or injuries) or chronic pain, holistic physical therapy and functional movement reconditioning can aid. At Health By Ratio, we'll build a truly comprehensive strategy that will help you get rid of your discomfort while also restoring full range of motion. We work with people of all ages ranging from 15 to 70+, so we're confident that we'll be able to help you too.

WHAT IS HBR?
A comprehensive online holistic health and fitness program that mixes physical therapy, therapeutic exercise, functional mobility and strength training, as well as nutrition counseling. Our staff creates personalized programs that may be done in as little as 15 minutes each day for injury rehabilitation and prevention. Our goal is to connect recurring and chronic injuries with functional health and fitness, as well as show our clients how to keep it for life!
WHAT IS THE HOLISTIC APPROACH WITH PHYSICAL THERAPY AND WHAT CAN IT DO FOR ME?
We look at the entire body from head to toe rather than single treatments that concentrate exclusively on where the discomfort is and frequently overlook the underlying causes of where our imbalances and compensations originate. We assess and address the whole body in its natural motions, making all the difference in the world for us to be able to live an active and abundant life.
HOW DOES ONLINE PHYSICAL THERAPY COACHING WORK?
We offer personalized mobility and exercise programs that are linked to step-by-step videos as well as 1-on-1 video coaching sessions for all of our clients combined with a wide range of other support and services. Group support is another component of our program, which everyone in Health By Ratio has access to through daily video chats.
WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT FROM MY FIRST APPOINTMENT/ASSESSMENT?
It's FREE, which is great because you can start right away.
We begin with a series of safe and functional movement tests and range of motion assessments based on the goals you're trying to achieve, the activities you do frequently, and your long-term objectives. Finally, we go through all of the evaluations with you so that you can understand how and why your body is moving the way it does, as well as where potential compensations or imbalances are coming from.
Finally, we devise a strategy for performing specific mobility and exercise activities in order to attain your health and eventually return to the levels of fitness that you desire!
WHAT ARE THE 5 PILLARS OF HEALTH?
We truly believe that we can all significantly enhance our health and accomplish amazing things if we learn how to support the 5 Pillars of Health:
1. The Mental, Emotional, and Spiritual Pillar
2. The Movement Pillar
3. The Nutritional Pillar
4. The Environmental Pillar
5. The Fulfilling Service Pillar
As you may have guessed from the name, each of these five pillars is interrelated and has a bearing on almost every aspect of our existence. As a result, when we give attention to each one, the body may benefit for decades with its natural abilities to heal and function.
During our program, we make sure that our clients pay attention to more than just their physical health.
Can Physical Therapy Help with Sciatica and Lower Back Injuries?
Sciatica and lower back injuries are some of the most frequent, and often debilitating, problems we may experience.
Personally, it was something I experienced for years whenever I drove or sat still for more than 20 minutes, making it difficult to drive in beautiful LA traffic that takes 9 hours fo every 10 miles!
It's also something that my staff and I have assisted a large number of our clients with.
For some, it's being unable to sit; for others, it's whenever they go for a walk for too long or attempt to sleep.
They are in a similar position when they come to us because they felt like they had already tried everything to become healthy:
CAN PHYSICAL THERAPY HELP WITH SCIATICA AND LUMBAR PAIN?
All of these therapies may make a difference right now, but the problem with them is that they rarely address the core causes of our sciatica and/or lower back injuries. Instead, they are attempting to address the symptoms at this time.
Immediate pain relief may be beneficial when we're seriously considering whether it's worth cutting our leg with a butter knife at the moment.
However, when we want to return to our normal daily routine and activity, symptom chasing isn't enough.
CHIROPRACTIC & MASSAGE TREATMENTS, PAIN KILLERS & NERVE BLOCKERS, AND SURGERY
All of these therapies can provide immediate relief, but their disadvantage is that they seldom address the real causes of our sciatica and lumbar pains. Instead, they focus on present-day symptoms rather than solving the problem at its core.
When we are seriously considering whether it's worth cutting our leg with a butter knife at the moment, this immediate help can be fantastic.
However, when we want to get back to our regular daily and active lifestyle after the acute phase, symptom chasing isn't enough.
TIME TO ASSESS
When using these techniques no longer work, it's time to look at what is going on above and below the spine and/or hips to discover what is affecting our core's ability to keep us stable.
The causes of my pain were, in part, due to a combination of factors that afflicted my feet, ankles, and hips, which resulted in an over-arching of my lumbar vertebrae and compression of my hips.
Some of our clients have excessive thoracic spine and shoulder girdle compression and rolling forward to the point where they're losing their natural lumbar spine curvature and reverting to a posterior pelvic tilt.
For you, it might be another matter.
