WHAT IS HBR?
An online holistic health & fitness program that combines physical therapy, corrective exercise, functional mobility & strength, and nutrition coaching. Our team creates customized programs, that can be done in as little as 15min/day, for injury rehabilitation & prevention, as one is ready to progress to functional fitness for whatever activities they want to enjoy and perform optimally. Our mission is to bridge the gap between recurring & chronic injuries to functional health & fitness, and teach our clients how to maintain it themselves for life!
WHAT IS THE HOLISTIC APPROACH WITH PHYSICAL THERAPY AND WHAT CAN IT DO FOR ME?
Instead of isolated treatments that focus primarily on where the pain is located, and often neglect the root causes of where our imbalances and compensations are coming from, we look at the entire body from head to toe.
Assessing and addressing the entire body in the ways it naturally moves, can make all the difference in the world for us to be able to live an active and abundant life for decades to come while performing at our personal best now.
HOW DOES ONLINE PHYSICAL THERAPY COACHING WORK?
We combine 1-on-1 video coaching calls with all of our clients, along with customized mobility & exercise programs that are linked to step-by-step videos. We also incorporate group coaching through daily video calls that everyone in Health By Ratio has access to.
WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT FROM MY FIRST APPOINTMENT/ASSESSMENT?
First, it’s FREE! We start with a series of safe & functional movement assessments and range of motion tests that are based on what you’re trying to heal, the activities you regularly perform, and your future goals.
Next, we thoroughly review all the assessments with you so that you understand how & why your body is moving the way it does, with explanations of where potential compensations and/or imbalances are coming from.
Finally, we create a game plan on what specific mobility and exercise techniques you need to do to achieve your health and ultimately get back to the levels of fitness you desire!

CAN PHYSICAL THERAPY HELP WITH SCIATICA AND LUMBAR PAIN?
Two of the most common and debilitating pains we can deal with are sciatica and lower back pain.
Personally, it was something that I experienced for years anytime I drove or sat down for more than 20-30 minutes, making it brutal to drive around in lovely LA traffic that takes approximately 9 hours for every 10 miles traveled.
It’s also something that my team and I have helped an incredible amount of our clients with.
For some, sitting in their challenge too, for others it’s whenever they go for a walk for too long, or perhaps when they are trying to sleep.
Like I was myself, they are in quite a predicament when they come to us, because they felt like they have tried everything to get healthy:
CHIROPRACTIC & MASSAGE TREATMENTS, PAIN KILLERS & NERVE BLOCKERS, AND SURGERY
All of these treatments can make a difference at the moment, but the challenge with them is they rarely address the root causes of our sciatica. Instead, they are dealing with the symptoms at the moment.
This immediate relief can be great when at the moment we are seriously debating on whether it’s worth it or not to self-amputate our leg with a butter knife.
But in the long run, when we want to get back to our normal daily & active lives, symptom chasing isn’t enough.
TIME TO ASSESS
After realizing that these methods aren't enough, that is when it is time to assess what is going on above and below the spine &/or hips to see what is impacting our core’s ability to stabilize us correctly.
For me, the root causes were a combination of what was happening in my feet, ankles, and hips that were causing an over-arching of my lumbar vertebrae and compression of my hip capsules.
For some of our clients, it has to do with their thoracic spine and shoulder girdle being overly compressed & rolled forward to where they are losing the natural curvature of their lumbar spine and reverting to a posterior pelvic tilt.
